We know that Heavy D had been traveling a lot, which can cause problems if you have DVT - my mother had a stroke several years ago because of it. Here is the update on the cause of death of Heavy D, written by Georgette Cline of The Boombox.com.

Since Heavy D passed away on Nov. 8 at Cedars-Sinai Medial Center in Los Angeles, questions surrounding the 'Nuttin' But Love' creator's death immediately arose. Friends, fans and family members of the deceased rapper are getting their answers today, as his cause of death was released.

The 44-year-old 'Now That We Found Love' performer died from a pulmonary embolism caused by deep leg vein thrombosis, TMZ reports. The tabloid website received the details from the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.

His death was classified as "natural," which indicates that no foul play was involved. Besides the pulmonary embolism -- a blockage of one or more arteries in the lungs most often caused by blood clots that travel in from other parts of he body -- Heavy D suffered from heart disease.

A month before his passing, Heavy D performed at the 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards, where he cruised through a medley of his best-known singles: 'Nuttin' But Love,' 'Is It Good to You' and 'Now That We Found Love.'

I get a call from my best friend this afternoon. "How you doin'?" she asks as usual. "I'm doin," I reply... as usual. "Well, the overweight lover is dead," she sighed. "Um, who?" I asked knowing full well who she was talking about.  I questioned her a few more times, hoping there was ANOTHER "overweight lover" that she could be talking about.  But I knew better. Jamaican born, "Money earnin'" Mount Vernon, New York raised rapper turned actor, Heavy D, was rushed to the hospital today where he was pronounced dead at the age of 44.

We all know his hits, and how he would throw in a little Caribbean flavor for us every now and then to remind us that he hadn't forgotten where he came from.  I had his poster from his sprite ads on my wall as a teenager, and mourned Trouble T-Roy alongside his most diehard fans.  Just a few weeks ago, I was showing my kids some of his videos, especially my favorite - they stared at me like I was nuts as I sang and danced like a teenager. Wailing at the top of my lungs, "Girls they, girls they love me - cause he's the overweight lover heavy D!" De gyal dem sure do love you Heavy D... you will be missed.
