Opening Today: Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted

Muppets Most Wanted Review :: SocaMom.com

One of the things that we enjoyed as a family growing up was the Muppets.  We were a Sesame Street family… a Muppet family.  We watched all the movies, watched Sesame Street during the day, and the Muppet show at night.  I am so glad that the Muppet Movie franchise is back in full force and pulling out all of the best cameos as usual.

My favorite things about the Muppet movies is that kids and adults can enjoy them. I can’t even say that I didn’t know what to expect because I always expect comedy, sweetness, and great music from the Muppets – and that’s what we got!

Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais. The film stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon. ~ Disney

Tina Fey and Ty Burrell had me laughing right along with the kids, and the music was phenomenal as usual. From the first frame, I was fully engaged, and the kids were excited – especially by the celebrity cameos! I don’t want to ruin it for you, but just a few of the big names are Tom Hiddleston, Celine Dion, Salma Hayek, P Diddy, Christoph Waltz, Ross Lynch, and Danny Trejo!

It’s not often that I get to spend the Saturday with my boys, but this past Saturday, the fellas and I headed to a pre-screening of Muppets Most Wanted.

Ready to check it out? It opens nationwide today, March 21st – after you see it, come back and let me know what you thought…

Now what you come to this website for!

Did it earn the PG Rating? It IS about prison. One of the things that my kids noticed was that people were presumed to have died.  They seemed surprised, but not afraid or put off. I don’t think there’s necessarily any crude humor or anything, its just that a G audience just wouldn’t get most of the jokes.  I will probably watch it again to catch some of the things I missed.  No partial nudity or anything like that, so no worries.

Bottom line. Should you go see it? Definitely.  You won’t be disappointed.  You should also stay for the credits just in case you are like me, and aren’t quite sure who the star cameos were – I am not as hip to pop culture as I was when I was watching these movies when I was young. Hint – look out for “as Himself” in the credits – then head to Wikipedia.

Should I take the kids to see it? Of course! They’ll have a blast. The little ones will be happy with all the colorful characters, and the older ones will be tickled to see their favorite stars in cameos.
