She also put me on to some stuff at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search\/%2523BWB2012\">#BWB2012<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p> \u2014 Slim Jackson (@slimjackson) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/slimjackson\/status\/209269050159804417\">June 3, 2012<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script src=\"http:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\"><\/script> <\/p>\n<p>But \u2013 we are no Cosby\u2019s.\u00a0 We have issues just like the rest of the families in the world.\u00a0 We have issues \u2013 shoot, sometimes our issues have issues.\u00a0 I am not always smiling from ear to ear like I am up there.\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 Some days I am.\u00a0 Most days, I\u2019m not.<\/p>\n<p>I am struggling \u2013 yes, struggling, to raise a boy that does not want to be raised.\u00a0 He would rather be raised by wolves\u2026 literally (no, for real &#8211; the wolf is his favorite animal, he knows all about them, and believes that they can do a better job raising him than we can).\u00a0 I share what I know to have worked \u2013 but if you are a regular reader, you know that this part of my parenting knowledge is limited.\u00a0 I don\u2019t usually talk about how to raise your kids.\u00a0 I figure that no one really knows all that much, since no one has perfect kids.\u00a0 If you are still following this blog (and I am still blogging) when he gets married and starts his own family, then and only then will I have reliable advice on raising a pre-teen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-2533\" src=\"http:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/waiting.jpg\" border=\"0\" width=\"420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/waiting.jpg 480w, https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/waiting-416x555.jpg 416w, https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/waiting-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I wish I could be all smiles like that lady up there all the time.\u00a0 Truth is, I am painfully shy sometimes.\u00a0 The SocaMom you see out and about is the product of some pep talks from the hubby and a few hours of getting myself together.\u00a0 I remember going to one event when I didn\u2019t have enough time to prepare, and it was just awful.\u00a0 I was awkward, quiet, and socially\u2026 well\u2026 not.\u00a0 I apologized a few times for not being myself, but that just made it even more strange, so I eventually just left. And no, I wasn\u2019t homeschooled.
