Going exploring off of the Disney Vero Beach Resort property? Here’s a fun activity for the family…<\/strong><\/p>\n

The hubby needed to be on a boat. \u00a0For him, it isn’t a vacation unless he is on some sort of sea going, river floating, or lake bobbing vessel. \u00a0Considering the prices of fishing boat excursions – he found an airboat tour of the marshland. \u00a0I was all for it, because that would be our science lesson for the day.<\/p>\n

<\/object> <\/p>\n

He chose Gator Bait Airboat<\/a> tours.<\/p>\n

We got up bright and early, put on our long sleeves and pants (that’s just my rule for the outdoors – had nothing to do with the requirements for the ride), socks and tennis shoes, and repellent, ate some cereal, and headed out on the 30 minute ride from the resort to the Blue Cyprus Recreation Area. \u00a0We were pulled over for going 35 in a 20 (school zone with no flashing light… ugh!), but we still made it just after 8 am.<\/p>\n

So early… so beautiful!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The kids were too tired to get excited, but luckily, the guide had had his coffee and was ready to go. \u00a0I explained to him that the kids were homeschooled, and that this was their science lesson. He assured me that they would get more than enough of a science lesson on the trip.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He was pretty patient with my younguns…<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

We all climbed on, put on the headphones which allowed us to hear each other and talk to each other over the sound of the giant fan propelling us. \u00a0Very cool.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Something about headphones makes kids happy.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

I can’t even explain to you how beautiful it was. \u00a0I have photos, but they don’t do it justice. \u00a0I have videos, but you can’t feel the wind… or smell the occasional odor of sulfur. \u00a0You’ll have to check it out for yourself. \u00a0If you go to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and you are looking for something fun and educational for the kids, definitely consider the airboat tour. \u00a0We saw alligators, all varieties of birds, fish, and plants – and learned so much about all of them. \u00a0We also got some great conservation facts.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Yes… that is a huge nest.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Oh, and HUGE plus for “Eva the Diva” – Nobody got even the slightest bit wet. YES!<\/p>\n
