Baby Girl’s music teacher told me that we could rent again, but if she had her own instrument, it would be different.<\/strong> I could tell in her voice that it was a good different. \u00a0Baby Girl LOVES violin, so I wasn’t sure how much better it could get. \u00a0But she never said, “better,” she said, “different.”<\/p>\n

We figured out that it was cheaper to buy a violin than rent one, so I went online and purchased the one that her instructor suggested.<\/strong> We went and picked up the package, and baby girl lit up. \u00a0She sat with the huge box in her lap, refusing to put it in the trunk. \u00a0When we got home, I heard her yelling at her brothers, who were used to carrying everything for her, “don’t touch it! I’ll carry it myself!” \u00a0Seeing both boys inside, and still hearing her yelling outside, I took a look and realized that she couldn’t see around the box to see that the boys had left her to deal with her package on her own as she had requested. The box was almost as big as she is.<\/p>\n

Once I opened it, I heard her breathe what could only be described as a sigh of relief…. like she had been waiting for this violin her whole life. <\/strong> She walked proudly into her lesson with her instrument on her back – ready to have it tuned and taped. She was always ready to practice, but this time was different. Her teacher was right.<\/p>\n

I see this blog as my instrument. <\/strong> It is my little spot in the world – all mine. \u00a0Although I have started various blogs on WordPress and Blogger, THIS blog is my instrument. \u00a0It doesn’t belong to anyone but me, and (as long as I do my regular backups) no one can take it. \u00a0I have written in other places, and like Baby Girl, no matter what instrument I have, I always do my best, but there’s something about this instrument… this website… that’s just different.<\/p>\n
