This Valentine’s Day, I’ll bet somebody received diamonds, when they’d rather have had some quality time on the couch watching a movie.<\/strong> Someone got quality time on the couch watching a movie, when they’d rather have had the dishes washed and put away. \u00a0Someone else got the house cleaned from top to bottom, when they’d rather have heard “you look gorgeous tonight”. \u00a0Someone got a beautiful compliment on their appearance, but they would rather have had a kiss that seemed to last forever. \u00a0Somebody’s Valentine’s Day left them feeling unloved.<\/strong><\/p>\n

My husband and I had this disconnect early in our relationship, but with the help of our marriage counselors, who gave us the book, the Five Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman, we are here today, as a couple, to share our story. <\/strong>If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know that I talk about the Five Love Languages, a lot.When the chance to share our story with Oprah Winfrey on her new show, Lifeclass, came up – I was so there! Back in October 2012, I reviewed the book that I had read so many years ago<\/a> here on the blog, so when I got the call, it was pretty fresh in my mind.<\/p>\n

The episode aired a couple of weeks ago, and people really loved it – and learned a lot, not just from us, but from the many couples who came to the taping to ask questions, those who had pre-recorded segments, and those who joined by Skype.<\/strong> The book has helped couples get back from the edge of divorce after infidelity and relationship neglect.<\/p>\n
