{"id":3392,"date":"2013-06-04T13:58:38","date_gmt":"2013-06-04T13:58:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/forever-jones-talks-family-faith-and-freedom-with-socamomcom\/"},"modified":"2023-09-04T21:39:11","modified_gmt":"2023-09-05T03:39:11","slug":"forever-jones-talks-family-faith-and-freedom-with-socamomcom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/forever-jones-talks-family-faith-and-freedom-with-socamomcom\/","title":{"rendered":"Forever Jones Talks Family, Faith, and Freedom with SocaMom.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-3389\" src=\"http:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/forever_jones_1.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Eva and Forever Jones  ::  SocaMom.com\" title=\"Eva and Forever Jones  ::  SocaMom.com\" width=\"400\" height=\"275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/forever_jones_1.jpg 400w, https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/forever_jones_1-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Photo by Kadija Bangura<\/span><\/p>\n<p>After \u201cHe Wants it All\u201d won Stellar Awards, was nominated for a GRAMMY\u00ae and Dove Award, the family band, Forever Jones, made up of parents Dewitt and Kim Jones and their five children, certainly wasn&#8217;t finished. \u00a0I met Kim Jones, Dewitt Jones IV, D\u2019Jeniele\u2019 (Jones) Hooten, and Dominique &#8220;Doe&#8221; Jones just two days before their new reality show, Forever Jones, was to premiere on Bounce TV.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p><strong>They walked in, instruments in hand, no fuss. <\/strong> Just a family it seemed, walking into a hotel lobby \u2013 not at all the scene that you would expect from soon to be reality TV stars.\u00a0 There were easy smiles from the four of seven family members in DC for the press tour, my day had really just started, but theirs had begun around 4:30 that morning.<\/p>\n<p>I stuck out my hand to give my usual handshake, and met with a hug from Kim, the matriarch, and hugs from each of the kids present &#8211; kind, friendly, and familiar.\u00a0 When I watch television, I still think of myself as inviting those characters into my home.\u00a0 I could already tell in just the first moments of meeting them, that I wouldn\u2019t mind turning to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bouncetv.com\/shows\/forever-jones\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Forever Jones on Bounce TV\" style=\"color: #0000cc;\" rel=\"noopener\">BounceTV<\/a> on the 5<sup>th<\/sup>, and inviting them in to hang out for a while.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you mind if we eat?\u201d I heard a voice ask after hugs and greetings. I said it was fine with me, and we headed over to the restaurant to start our chat.<\/p>\n<p>Kim Jones, her oldest son Dewitt IV, daughters D&#8217;Jeniele&#8217; and Dominique sit down with their menus and try to figure out what to order &#8211; to go &#8211; they have a plane to catch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>With my mom at my house for the last several months, we had had differences of opinions when it came to the kids \u2013 not often, but often enough that I had to ask, how Kim dealt with the urge to give D&#8217;Jeniele&#8217;\u00a0advice about her kids.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>She pointed out that her daughter and her husband, Nate, who is also a member of the cast, have their own home.\u00a0 When she is with them at home, she waits until she is asked for help. She says on the road, however, she will, \u201cgo ahead and give it\u2026 gingerly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want her to do her best,\u201d she explained. I was pregnant on the road, and there are tips that I can give to make it easier.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She admits that times have changed since she was on the road\u00a0 with her kids, four out of five of them are adults. \u201cWe fly a lot more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-3390\" src=\"http:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/forever_jones_3.jpg\" border=\"0\" width=\"400\" height=\"275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/forever_jones_3.jpg 400w, https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/forever_jones_3-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Photo by Eva Greene Wilson<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Then I turned to D&#8217;Jeniele&#8217;\u00a0and had to ask her, because there are always two sides to a story, how she felt about receiving advice from her mom. \u201cSometimes, I\u2019m like, \u2018okay mom, I got it\u2019 and sometimes, I ask, \u2018what did you do?\u2019 She\u2019s always so incredible\u2026 She\u2019s the master at it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I completely understood the awe in her voice.\u00a0 I have that mom too.
