I think I sell myself…<\/p>\n

  1. Very poorly<\/strong> \u2013 I would rather do the work and have someone else who believes in what I am doing to sell it for me.\u00a0 I remember someone recognizing me and asking me if I wrote Anancy\u2019s Family Reunion<\/a>.\u00a0 I almost said \u2018no\u2019 to avoid having to sell myself or the book.\u00a0 Luckily, my husband is outgoing and a fantastic salesman, so my book is getting into the hands of a lot of families \u2013 no thanks to me (other than writing the book)!<\/li>\n
  2. Not often enough<\/strong> \u2013 I usually only mention what I do if someone asks a question directly related to it.\u00a0 I don\u2019t just come out and say, \u201cHi, my name is Eva and I am a Caribbean American parenting blogger who writes about the Caribbean and is obsessed with shoes and Netflix.\u201d\u00a0 Doesn\u2019t exactly roll off the tongue.\u00a0 I should make sure that people know what I am doing, because I am working pretty hard to provide what I do for my readers \u2013 people won\u2019t be able to use it, appreciate it, and share it, if I never tell them about it.<\/li>\n
  3. Softly<\/strong> \u2013 I\u2019m a soft seller.\u00a0 The soft sell is defined as a \u201csubtly persuasive selling method.\u201d If I am posting online, I am more aggressive about putting my requests for business out there, but in person? I am definitely more of a soft seller.\u00a0 I use my marketing materials, online and off, to do my selling for me.\u00a0 It may not get me the volume of sales that hard selling might, but it is the method that I am most comfortable with.<\/li>\n
  4. In stages<\/strong> \u2013 I tend to \u201ccourt\u201d my potential customers.\u00a0 I want them to get to know me first, get to know all that the website has to offer for free, then get to know what paid products that I am offering through the website. <\/li>\n
  5. Quickly<\/strong> \u2013 I am a get in, get out, kind of person.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want to waste anyone\u2019s time, just like I don\u2019t like my time wasted, so I have a quick way to describe what I have to offer, and that\u2019s that.\u00a0Right now, my main product is <\/span>Anancy\u2019s Family Reunion<\/a>, so I have my quick sale speech for that.\u00a0 The most important person that has a sales speech is my husband.\u00a0 He could sell a book to me\u00a0 – he’s THAT good\u2026<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
