{"id":427,"date":"2011-06-09T20:32:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-09T20:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/?p=427"},"modified":"2023-09-04T20:29:27","modified_gmt":"2023-09-05T02:29:27","slug":"three-things-i-learned-vacationing-in-aruba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/three-things-i-learned-vacationing-in-aruba\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Things I Learned Vacationing in Aruba"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An amazing artist (and friend of mine) invited my husband and I to Aruba to hang out while she shot her music video. \u00a0She shot the majority of the video before we got there, and shot a scene or two after we had arrived. \u00a0I had never been to Aruba, and I was really impressed. \u00a0While she set up for the shots in the cave, we did some sightseeing. \u00a0It looked like scenes from a National Geographic special! \u00a0There are a lot of untouched, beautiful spots in Aruba! \u00a0The water is crystal clear in most spots. \u00a0It was during Carnival time, so we went to the lightening parade, which was amazing. \u00a0If you are from Aruba or have visited, see if you can recognize the different places that she shot the video in&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WpsHTdPTUGQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Where should you stay in Aruba?<\/strong> There are so many wonderful hotels, but I can only speak for where we stayed. We were at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.holidayarubaresort.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Holiday Inn Resort Aruba &#8211; Beach Resort and Casino<\/a>. The beach and the water were outstanding. We selected an all inclusive package, so we didn&#8217;t have to budget for anything. We rented a car and did some sightseeing. Someone tapped it in a parking lot, and we had to file a police report. That was an interesting experience to say the least.<\/p>\n<p>Three things\u00a0I found out that on that trip that\u00a0you need to know:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Most people speak English,<\/strong> but many people also speak papiamento which began in the 1500s to enable African slaves to communicate with their owners who had fled the Spanish Inquisition according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitaruba.com\/about-aruba\/general-aruba-facts\/language\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">VisitAruba.com<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Police reports are in Dutch. <\/strong>Someone\u00a0hit our rental car and ran, so we had to make a police report. That was pretty frustrating.
