Where Have You Been???"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>First of all &#8211; I&#8217;m okay. I didn&#8217;t disappear totally. <\/strong>I have been hanging out in our group on Facebook, <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/socamomscafe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the SocaMom&#8217;s Caribbean Cafe<\/a>. After doing <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/thesocamomsummit.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">two virtual conferences in a row<\/a> and speaking at a few, I think I was a little burned out. Not that the level of activity was more than I was used to, but ISSA WHOLE PANDEMIC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The kids were going to be <a href=\"https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/should-you-virtual-school-homeschool-or-send-them-back-during-the-pandemic\/\">starting school at home<\/a> &#8211; something I hadn&#8217;t planned on after I stopped homeschooling, and we hadn&#8217;t really been outdoors the whole summer. <\/strong>No summer vacations, no road trips &#8211; we had done nothing as a family to differentiate spring, from summer, from fall &#8211; and I was tired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Camp Mom: Balancing Summer Fun and Summer \u201cSchool\u201d\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U_QxR1QqZE0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I loved everything about the <a href=\"https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/socamom-summit-recap\/\">SocaMom Summit<\/a>.<\/strong> It was like a summer farewell of sorts to some of my favorite people before I retreated into everyday life inside. You would think as an introvert, I would LOVE the idea of quarantine or social distancing, but while I enjoy being by myself, I do like the freedom to actually go places &#8211; by myself. I enjoyed dropping off kids at school and coming back home to write and clean. I made myself my comfort eggs and drank my tea &#8211; occasionally sharing my handiwork on my <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/stories\/socamom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instagram stories<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/sign_off_socamom_summit-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"empty chair and studio lights\" class=\"wp-image-6577\" srcset=\"https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/sign_off_socamom_summit-576x1024.jpg 576w, https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/sign_off_socamom_summit-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/sign_off_socamom_summit-768x1365.jpg 768w, https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/sign_off_socamom_summit-600x1067.jpg 600w, https:\/\/socamom.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/sign_off_socamom_summit.jpg 850w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>One day, I found myself laying in bed, unable to move. <\/strong>I mean &#8211; I could move to do the urgent things, like go to the bathroom, and eat &#8211; but I didn&#8217;t have the energy to do anything else. I wasn&#8217;t tired. I wasn&#8217;t upset. I was just&#8230; there. I laid in bed and stared at the ceiling for a few days, asking the kids and my husband periodically, &#8220;what&#8217;s wrong with me?&#8221; They didn&#8217;t seem particularly alarmed. I was generally happy and upbeat when the kids came in and flopped on the bed to talk about whatever they wanted to talk about. I didn&#8217;t feel what I used to recognize as depression. I wasn&#8217;t sad. I did get up to bathe. I washed my sheets. I scrolled Facebook and Twitter. But I wasn&#8217;t producing anything &#8211; nor did I want to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That felt strange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>When you are a person who always feels the pull to produce, not doing so feels strange.<\/strong> Strange &#8211; but I can&#8217;t say it didn&#8217;t feel good. Maybe not even &#8220;good,&#8221; more like peaceful. I needed that peace to be able to manage the mini-breakdowns the kids would have in the coming months. They couldn&#8217;t see friends and family, and that was just too much some days. It was nice to not be distracted by a project when they needed a hug and a listening ear. My mind wasn&#8217;t wandering to a to do list. I didn&#8217;t have one. I was just there&#8230; maybe a better word is &#8211; present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am almost back to making mode. Almost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The election has me avoiding social media, so I live in the little bubble of my Facebook groups and text chains with my friends.<\/strong> They have promised to let me know when to start binge-watching something new (I catch up on mindless TV while the kids are in class) or if a civil war breaks out. I may not be fully prepared for the demise of the United States, but I did get an <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2Ib4Fz8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Instant Pot\/Air Fryer<\/a> during this pandemic &#8211; so&#8230; there&#8217;s that. My middle son has a weekly <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/instagram.com\/shotindc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">photography<\/a> project that we all participate in as a family, and my youngest has her <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/lemonerdy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vlog<\/a> and school projects that she ropes us all into when she can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I have a lot to catch up on here on the blog, and loads to tell you about what&#8217;s been going on the last three months.<\/strong> In the meantime, I am still active on the <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/socamomdotcom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Socamom Facebook page<\/a>, in the <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/socamomscafe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Facebook group<\/a>, occasionally on <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/socamomdc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Twitter<\/a>, and in my <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/stories\/socamom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instagram stories<\/a>.
