10 by 10: Blogs I Checked Out Today! September 14, 2012

I took a week off (sort of), but I am back this week with my 10 blogs by 10 post.  While I was gone, I went to Ohio to visit one of the most influential moms I know.  Every time I visit, I end up trying a new product and buying it when I get home…

This time, it was these frozen biscuits. My. Goodness.

They were so good, I can’t even explain it!  Anyhew – if my next batch of homemade biscuits doesn’t come close to these, I am going to go out and get some – you know what… I should probably just plan to go out and get some.

I wish I had some this morning while I read my blogs… *sigh* But that’s okay – I had some good reading.  Check out these blogs and tell them that SocaMom sent you!

http://guerrillamom.blogspot.com/ – @mariaguido on Twitter – I got hooked on this blog after reading her Ann Romney speech translation.  Democrat or Republican – it was hilarious. The one I read today was about flying with a toddler. You have to read about her experience… Here is my comment:

I used to tell myself that I had to hurry up and travel while they were toddlers so that I could take advantage of the “fly free” thing. Nothing is free about flying with a kid under 2. You pay for it one way or another. I did it twice with my first, once with my second, and never with the third.

I still want my badge.

http://www.babyrabies.com/ – @babyrabies on Twitter – More moms on planes… I read about airplane apologies here… which I find insane.  I am not packing snacks for the passengers that my kids may annoy during the flight.  Now, I can say that because I don’t have the kids that annoy other passengers.  I find that I am easily annoyed, so keeping them from annoying me is also a public service to those around me.

http://itsallstyletome.com/ – @itsallstyletome on Twitter – Spent time going through Fashion Week photos and thinking about next year.  Not sure thinking what really… just thinking. Well – that makes no sense now does it.

http://www.cocosteaparty.com/ – @cocosteaparty on Twitter – checked out the post on Vera Wang’s cycling shorts, or as my mom called them – “pedal pushers”.  She wanted to know if they were hot or not.  Size 4 me… from 9 years ago says, “Hot!” The now me says… “If by ‘hot’ you mean causing flames to spark up as my thighs (and possibly my knees) rub together in all that polyester in the summer, then yes. Hot.”

http://selfishmom.com/ – @selfishmom on Twitter – She’s concerned about her son Jake’s commute to middle school.  DC actually has no school buses for the kids who aren’t special needs, so everyone takes the train or the city bus to get to school.  I don’t know that I could take it.  My middle schooler could walk to the school he is assigned to, but – well – DC brick and mortar public school? Nah – I’ll pass. I started reading last week when I saw a post from her about keeping the kids out of her room.  I agree…

http://kiratianatravels.com/ – @kiratiana on Twitter – I met her at Blogalicious, and have been a fan ever since.  She’s been covering the Olympics in London, so I headed over to her blog looking for some new pics…

Found this pic!  Jamaica had a great year – with the Olympics and their Independence celebration – sounds like a reason to paint London green, black, and gold to me! Check out her posts from Grenada house here – http://kiratianatravels.com/2012/08/11/multicultural-london-a-visit-to-grenada-house-and-an-appearance-from-kirani-james/ and Jamaica house – http://kiratianatravels.com/2012/08/08/wheres-the-best-place-to-watch-the-mens-200m-final-jamaica-house/.

Going to Paris? She has a book on Amazon… Kiratiana’s Travel Guide to Black Paris: Get Lost and Get Found

http://www.kimberlyluxe.com/ – @kimberlyluxe on Twitter – She said in the 3 month life reset post to send flowers to myself around this time next year with a note.  I find that to be genius… Now the only thing is I am not sure if I will still be living here this time next year. I so want to do this one though. Crap.

http://www.justaddglitterandstir.blogspot.com/ – @addglitter on Twitter – Love her glasses.  That’s first. Second – she crochets just about everything… no I mean it. Even her social media icons are crochet. And she likes Dr. Who… what else is there?! Just go check her out…. go on – go.

http://itsoktobeweird.com/ – @oktobeweird on twitter – After re-reading my comment about Dr. Who on Just Add Glitter, I thought of another blogger who tells us it’s okay to be weird.  I like to think of it as my own special not so secret recipe of awesomeness – weird for short.  I was scrolling for a while, and caught a glimpse of an old favorite – Ray Stevens.  She introduced her kids to him, and his comedy, so I started looking up some videos to see if there’s anything they’d get.  They aren’t ready for Fawlty Towers or Chef, but maybe they’ll like Ray… we aren’t on a first name basis or anything, but he won’t be reading this or anything, so he won’t have the chance to get offended.

http://www.wheredidugetthat.com/ – @karenbritchick on Twitter – So much inspiration here!  Spent some time looking through the pics and pinning.  Check out her site for some pretty amazing shoes too.  We all know how much I love shoes…

And that’s it for the day.  Have a great weekend everyone! I am adding (slowly but surely) all of the blogs that I check out in the 10 x 10 in one list so that you can find them and check them out at your leisure in any order that you’d like.  Enjoy!
