Caribbean American Heritage Month: Caribbean Inspired Look for Moms

My husband always teases me that Caribbean folks love yellow, maybe there’s a little truth to that because whenever I see something yellow I stop in my tracks and head straight to it. That’s what happened a few weeks ago, I was at Target picking up diapers when I saw something yellow and pushed my cart over as fast I could.

Not only did I find this gorgeous print yellow skater skirt but it was on clearance! I fell in love with the blue tribal print on the yellow background, the two colors together made me think about, well actually long for the Caribbean sun and sea.

Skater skirts look great on everybody and I am not exaggerating, they are one of the most flattering cuts and look great on women of all sizes. I like them to hit just a tad bit above my knees and I always do a sitting test to ensure that they aren’t too short.

I paired it with a crisp white shirt that I had in my closet, I love white shirts because they turn everything up a notch. Plus, every mom has a crisp white shirt in her closet.

Since the skirt is a show stopper, it was important to wear simple shoes that didn’t compete with them. I chose a pair of simple yet elegant ankle strap heels because they make my legs appear longer. Who doesn’t want longer legs?

Pop on a red lip and a pair of mirrored sunglasses and you’re ready to go!
