As August approaches, parents begin to ask one another, “do you have everything you need for back to school?” I don’t think we ask each other that just in case we can help – we just want to know if we are the only ones painfully unprepared.
Why doesn’t my best attempt at organizing our school space even come close to the wonders on Pinterest? I’m just sayin…
Last night I used up most of my patience checking to make sure all of the books were on the shelves, and that we had our supplies in order for class today. So there I was, after 3:00… still doing the SAME subject with the boy. I was pretty far past annoyed, and trying to keep calm – but as the minutes passed, my patience was running terribly low.
Here’s my school supply list for parents – homeschooling or not. I wish I had this last week so that I could make sure I had all that I needed. Now I have to work on getting everything I need on this list at the last minute… 🙂

1- 2 Extra Large Boxes of Patience |
Don’t forget the refills! |
1- 2 Rolls of Attitude Remover |
This is a classroom supply, and each student is expected to contribute, but feel free to take it home as needed. |
2 – 3 Large Boxes of Optimism |
Bring enough to share with teachers and students. |
4 – 5 Cans of Creativity |
Make sure this is labeled and in their bag each day when your kids enter the classroom. |
4 – 5 Bottles of Plan Sanitizer |
Even great ideas have to be cleaned up a little to account for personalities and learning styles. Have an ample supply for the home and the classroom. |
6 – 7 Boxes of Discipline |
If you don’t have this at home, be prepared to bring it in at the teacher’s request. |
2 Cans of Punctuality |
Keep it on hand and bring it with you at the beginning and the end of each day. |
40 Packages of Prayer |
Each package should have 21 singles, must have at least three per day. |
4 Rolls of Motivation |
This supply runs out about as quickly as patience, depending on the student, so feel free to adjust for your student’s needs. |
5 Non-Toxic Bottles of Correction Fluid |
Also known as Fite (Fight) Out, sometimes comes free with purchase of discipline. |
2 Tubes of Understanding |
One for class and one for the home. You won’t need to get too much, a little goes a long way. |
When formulating this list, a few items were suggested by others, but understandably are not included in the official list:
— 1 – 2 Cans of Whoop @$$ (Regulations vary by state and family, but they are definitely not appropriate for the classroom.)
— A Jar of Water Soluble “STFU” (Would have been added if it was non-toxic, odor free, and safe for children.)
— 10 “I’m Through” Glue Sticks (Although quick and easy, it never provides the desired result, and can be permanent.)
Feel free to pin, post, and share this list – when you do, credit SocaMom.com, and a link back to this site would be appreciated. Let me know what you think! More infographics coming soon.
This one was a lot of fun to make!
