Why Are Caribbean Children the Most Well Behaved Kids in the Air?

Big Kids

By the time your kid is five, it has likely gotten much easier to travel with them. It is kind of a trade off. Will you really be able to have a drama free and fare free flight with those infants and toddlers? Maybe. Now that you are paying? It isn’t nearly as difficult. We have to pay one way or another, right?

For your big kids don’t forget:

TRAVEL DIARY

Bring a travel diary, crayons, and several pens – at this age, your kids have likely mastered talking, and will want to share that mastery with EVERYONE on the flight. Just remind them to just write down what they have to say.

HEADPHONES

Headphones are great, but be sure that they have a built in volume control to protect their hearing. (Amazon affiliate links)

DISPOSABLE CAMERA

The last thing you need is to lose your nice digital camera or phone (which is probably full of really important photos) because your big kid wants to take photos on their own. Grab several disposable cameras. Encourage them to be careful and get the best photo the first time, since the number of exposures is limited. Photos will be a great post trip addition to a vacation scrap book or travel journal.

“If you are an “anti-electronic device” parent, for the sake of your fellow passengers, you may want to give in for the flight. When we traveled with the young ones, the portable DVD player was our best friend. When their interests began to diverge we bought a second player. This is also useful on flights where they may play a movie that is borderline in its appropriateness for younger viewers. Now the kids have their own devices and we stock them up with books. ~ Carol from St. Kitts and Nevis is a children’s book author, editor, publisher and blogger. Visit CaribbeanReads.com.
