Looking at this, it is hard to tell if this photograph was taken on land or in the sea! I took this photograph at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Botanic Gardens last month. So that should tell you that it was taken on land, but what IS it?
Our guide called it the “comb and brush” flower. I have yet to find the scientific name for it, so if you know it, please post it in the comments. I know it is gorgeous, but has one interesting feature…
If you pick it, it comes apart in your hand. No matter how beautiful you think it is, you can’t posses it. This flower will never be part of your flower arrangement.
