Annual Anancy! Anansi! Folklore and Storytelling Festival in Washington, DC

The Anancy Festival is back! Anancy! Anansi! Festival is a celebration of the Caribbean’s diverse and spectacular cultural heritage, both traditional and contemporary, and is designed to have special appeal to the young and young at heart. It is Caribbean American Heritage Month, and we are celebrating on Sunday, June 26th at 3:00 at THEARC (Town Hall Education Art Recreation Campus) in SE DC.  We aren’t at our usual location, the library in downtown DC, but there are perks to being at THEARC like a dedicated parking lot and a metro close by.

This year we will have face painting, storytelling and amazing arts and crafts! There’s a free gift* for the first 50 to register at anancyfestival.eventbrite.com. THEARC is located at 1901 Mississippi Ave SE, Washington, DC 20020 near the SOUTHERN AVENUE METRO STOP (GREEN LINE)

Anancy (Ananse or Anansi) is the West African trickster hero of numerous folk tales that are popular across the Caribbean and throughout the African Diaspora. This clever and conniving character is familiar to millions of people around the world. To register for the Washington, DC event, visit www.socamom.com.

*First 50 registered by 6/15/16. Must check in and claim gift by 3:30 pm on the day of the event.
