On June 9th, in Washington, along with face painting, music, a short film, story telling, and crafts, we now have a kid-sized Aunt Nancy’s House!
The Anansi stories from West Africa came to the Caribbean and the United States, evolving and changing in spelling, and sometimes in character. In the southern United States, “Anansi” became “Aunt Nancy”. We have Aunt Nancy’s house available for the kids to decorate! Be sure to tell friends and bring your kids, nieces, nephews, and friends to the Anancy! Anansi! Folklore Festival and Storytelling Event in Washington, DC on June 9th at 10:00 am.
We will have a parent’s corner with refreshments, as well as some great giveaways. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library – District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL) at 901 G St, NW, Washington, DC. It is Metro accessible by the Gallery Place Chinatown metro stop.
