No Instagram filter necessary. No duck lips to highlight his cheekbones, no twist towards the camera to slim his body, no shirtless smize to entice the ladies… just the selfie essentials: a camera, a mirror, and a great outfit…. and 60 years?

The camera is perfectly placed to make sure that we see the whole outfit, AND his face, unlike most mirror selfies on the web today.

Jamaican American icon, Colin Powell, former Secretary of State, former National Security Advisor, and the first and only African American to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff posted this selfie on Facebook on Thursday with the caption: “Throwback Thursday – I was doing selfies 60 years before you Facebook folks. Eat your heart out Ellen!” directing the comment to actress and daytime talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres.
