FORTIN CONDE DE MIRASOL

If your kids are a history buffs like mine, this should be your first stop in Vieques.  It is always nice to know the background of where you are visiting, and this fort turned museum is a great place to begin.  There are great views, as there are in many parts of the island, but the best part is the history.  There are photos and historical artifacts including pottery from the indigenous people, shackles from the slave trade, and many newspaper articles and posters from the protests and subsequent exit of the US military from Vieques.
